What's changing?

While so many of our favorite features and tools have been free to use, a Roadtrippers Plus membership ($35.99/year) is now required for the following features:

Plan trips with 4 or more stops: You'll need a Roadtrippers Plus membership to create or edit trips with 4 or more waypoints. You'll be limited to 3 waypoints on trips created with a free account.

Access to existing trips: You'll need a Roadtrippers Plus membership to edit, view, or share your existing trips with 4 or more stops.

To help you with these upcoming account changes, we’ve put together a list of common questions that you may have.

I used to be able to open all of my trips, no matter how many waypoints they had. What changed?

As of August 18, 2023, you'll need an active paid membership to view or edit a trip with 4 or more waypoints. After that date, you'll be able to open trips you own with 3 or fewer waypoints regardless of membership status.

I don’t have an active paid membership. Will my trips with 4 or more waypoints be deleted?

Trips will not be deleted, they will stay saved to your account regardless of membership status. Only the ability to view or edit them will change pending your membership status.

I’m in the middle of traveling or will be soon. Can I just be allowed to open my trip for free?

All users, including previously subscribed members, can start a 7-day free trial of Roadtrippers Plus. The free trial includes all paid membership benefits, including viewing and editing any owned trip. At the end of the free trial, you'll be charged $35.99 for Roadtrippers Plus.

Note that you can only start a trial once, and you will need to cancel prior to the end of the trial if you don’t want to continue your membership.

When did these changes go into effect?

This new waypoint limit took effect on August 18, 2023.

Can I save/download my trips with 4 or more waypoints so I don’t lose them?

As of August 18, 2023, you will need an active membership to print trips or export trips to PDF. If you do not have a paid membership, start a trial or membership in order to continue to have access to them. Click the links below for more details on how to do this.

Can Trip Collaborators still view and edit my trips?

The Trip Collaborator feature hasn’t changed. As long as the trip owner (the user who created the trip) has an active membership and can view/edit the trip, then collaborators can continue to view and edit trips.

How can I upgrade to Roadtrippers Plus?

You can start your membership to Roadtrippers Plus here. The membership starts with a 1-week free trial and after the trial period it costs $35.99/year.
