Roadtrippers Autopilot™ is an AI-powered trip planning tool available for Premium members.
Short on time or open to suggestions? Select “Plan with Autopilot" or "Plan it for me,” tell us where you’re headed, and Autopilot will generate highly curated recommendations to add to your trip!
- When starting a new trip on the Roadtrippers website, choose the Plan with Autopilot option. Enter your starting point and destination (you can always change them later).
- Add dates to your trip if you know them. You can also add dates later - and update your date range later too!
- Answer a few more questions - like what vehicle you're driving for this trip, whose traveling with you, and your budget for place to eat, places to sleep, and things to do. To advance to the next questions, click Next at the bottom of the screen. You can also go back and change your previous responses!
- Let us know what types of places you're into! Select as many or as few as you'd like, then click Next.
- Choose if you want to avoid highways for a more scenic route, add any other known stops, then click Next and we’ll build your base route.
- Next, we’ll suggest some top-rated stops along that route! Add the ones you like, or click the X to skip them and see new recommendations. When you’re ready, click “Launch Trip” to see your trip on the map.
- From there, you can keep discovering new stops by browsing categories on the map, add or edit dates, rearrange your stops, and more!
When you start planning a new trip from the Roadtrippers mobile app, enter your starting point and any destination on your trip, then select the "Plan it with Autopilot" option.
Next, you'll be asked to answer a few questions:
...be sure to select an option for each question before tapping Next.
Now you can add any additional stops you already know you’d like to visit. Just type the stop name into the field and select it from the dropdown, or tap the Map button to browse nearby places for inspiration.
You won’t be able to add stops directly from the map, but it’s a great way to jog your memory for places you can then enter in the Add stops bar. When you’re ready to return to the add screen from map view, simply tap List from the map view.
Tap Next once you’ve added the places you already know you want to include. Don’t worry - after the trip opens on the map, you’ll be able to add more stops.
Now for the fun part: choosing your Autopilot suggestions! Based on your answers and the stops you’ve already added, we’ll recommend some great waypoints for your trip. Scroll through the suggestions, tap + Add to include any you like, or remove ones you’re not interested in by tapping the X in the upper-right corner.
When you're finished, tap Launch trip! You'll see your trip on the map, where you can continue discovering and editing.
Remember to review and confirm details about your trip such as visiting hours, booking availability, pet restrictions, and road closures before you hit the road.
