The gas price is automatically set to the US monthly average. We check the average price weekly and use that along with your MPG and fuel type settings to provide an estimate for your trip.
Note that you cannot edit the gas price used to calculate the estimate, but you can edit the MPG setting for your trip by following the steps here: Can I edit the MPG for my vehicle?
Check the tabs below to see where and how the estimate will display in your trip!
To see your estimated trip fuel cost, click the trip overview icon (📊) below the trip name.
Your estimated cost and estimated fuel cost will appear in the Trip Overview panel alongside total drive time, distance, number of waypoints, and duration (if you have dates applied).
The estimated cost is a total of our fuel estimate plus any budgets you've added to waypoints in your trip. The fuel estimate is just the estimated fuel cost, and you can click the pencil icon to edit your MPG settings.
If you're using our mobile app, you can see a trip cost estimate and a fuel cost estimate in the Details tab of your trip.
Keep in mind that the ESTIMATED COST is a total of our fuel cost estimate plus any budgets you've added to waypoints in your trip. The ESTIMATED FUEL cost further down is just our fuel estimate. if this estimate seems off, you can click the pencil icon to the right of this field to view or update your fuel type and fuel economy settings.
