Website - Getting Started

Welcome!

The Roadtrippers.com homepage is a handy way to quickly plan a trip or explore a specific area on the map. This simple search allows you to immediately get started by planning a trip or entering where you want to go so that you can explore places on the map!

If you're already logged into your account, you can get to your profile page and see your planned trips by clicking the profile icon in the upper right. If you aren't logged in, simply click Log In or Get Started if you need to sign up for an account.

Let's get started!

  1. When you're planning a new trip, begin with a starting and ending point.
  2. On www.roadtrippers.com, enter your Starting Point and Destination in the boxes shown below. You'll also note 2 planning options for starting your new trip:

    • If you want to use our Roadtrippers Autopilot™ AI-powered trip planning tool, select Plan with Autopilot. This feature is only available to Premium members, and you can start a free trial if you want to give it a try. Learn more about Autopilot here.
    • If you aren't interested in a Premium membership or if you'd prefer to plan the trip yourself with suggestions from the map, choose Plan on your own.

  3. You’ll now have the chance to add any extra stops you already know you want on your trip (don’t worry, you can always add more later!). If you’d like to avoid highways, you can set that here too. You can also rearrange your stops on this page, or you can do that after your trip is launched to the map. 4. If you’re using Autopilot, you’ll now see a few suggested stops for your trip. Click Add to Trip to include one, or hit the X to see a new suggestion. You can remove or unroute these later.Screenshot 2025-09-09 at 3.02.18 PM.png

  5. After creating your trip with Autopilot or the manual planner, you will see your route open on the map.

Want to Just Look Around?

  1. Click "Explore the map" under the trip launcher on the homepage to view the map.

  2. You can zoom in and pan around the map, then apply a category by clicking the Search and Explore bar in the upper left of the screen to see points of interest in the area you’re viewing.

Trip Management

Once your trip is open on the map, the itinerary panel on the left gives you access to all planning tools.

At the Top of the Itinerary

  • Close trip — closes the itinerary panel.
  • Collaborators — invite or manage collaborators on your trip.
  • Trip banner photo — the cover image for your trip.
  • Trip name — shown prominently below the banner.
  • Share icon (↑) — share via link, social media, email, or export as GPX / embed.
  • Print icon (🖨) — print your itinerary or turn-by-turn directions.
  • Trip overview icon (📊) — view trip stats (drive time, distance, waypoints, estimated cost) and your trip guide.

The Button Grid

Four clearly labeled buttons give you quick access to the most-used trip tools.:

  • Trip settings — manage trip name, description, banner photo, privacy, vehicle, travel crew, and trip deletion.
  • Routing options — set avoidances, RV dimensions, and access options to Make Round Trip / Reroute / Reverse trip.
  • Measure tool — measure drive time from any waypoint to plan your next stop.
  • Edit dates — add, update, or remove trip dates.

Finding and Adding Places to Your Trip

Whether you use Autopilot or Plan on Your Own, you'll be able to add and delete waypoints from your trip once it's been launched to the map.

Click the blue "Add to Trip" button in the left dock or the (+) button next to dates (if your trip has dates) to add stops you already know. You can search for and add cities, addresses, or points of interest to your trip with this tool.

Click Search and Explore to filter the map by categories and discover places to add to your trip!

You can find more instructions for using categories at the following link: Discover Places

As you're adding stops to your trip, our trip planner will plan the order of stops and the route based on what is most efficient. You can customize both the order of your stops and your route if you decide you want to use a different road or do the stops in another order, so don't worry about the order that you enter your stops in! Here is more information on reordering stops: Rearrange or Remove Waypoints
